Needle-Felting Craft Workshop

Needle-Felting is a form of Handwork which involves sculpting un-spun wool with a sharp barbed needle. It is a skill quickly learned and once the basics are in place, imagination takes over to create something beautiful. Finished projects make furry figures for child's play, table puppets for storytelling, and thoughtful gift-giving. Because of the focus required to avoid getting stuck by the needle, many find this a meditative, therapeutic past-time as it induces a state of flow.

Importance of Craft & Handwork for Children

“Human beings exposed to meaningful Handwork from a young age are more likely to have a sense of fulfillment, a sense of true purpose in their work later in life. In today’s world of technology and high focus on “head work”, Handwork provides the balancing element which the more intellectual activities require if the development of the child is to be a harmonious one. The process of working meticulously with their hands, using different materials and colors, and creating unique and beautiful products, develops in children an ability to persevere, to appreciate the beauty and strive for perfection, to imagine and create, thus strengthening their Will and preparing them for realities of Life.”
