These four drawing and journaling sessions will explore the history and practice of the mandala (“essence container” in Sanskrit) but mostly we will engage in actual hands-on artistic work in order to learn more about the magic of this ancient yet modern artform. After viewing historic and contemporary mandalas we will do guided exercises in order to prepare ourselves for personalized finished pieces. We will aide this visual artistic process with journaling assignments.
Supplies Needed: Newsprint drawing paper, colored wax stick crayons, white pastel paper, one piece of large black
pastel paper, colored soft-pastels.
